ASHRAE 62 Ventilation Code requires a specified amount of fresh air (100% OA) for any building application. Often these requirements put a taxing load on the building electrical infrastructure and also on the montly utility bill.

LEED Requirements also give additional credit to building owners seeking more aggressive amounts (CFM) of outside air to their building than the minimum prescribed in the ASHRAE 62 code.

ASHRAE 52 evaluates filter efficiency, an additional component to clean air. This filtration standard analyzes efficiency, arrestance and dust holding capacity to provide a minimum efficiency reporting value (MERV).
